Lots of Books for Great Prices at Main Library

Lots of Books for great prices! On the first Saturday of each month, you have the opportunity to buy a grocery bag full of used books for a mere $5 at the back parking lot of the Main Library, 345 Fair Lane, Placerville. If you bring your own reusable cloth bag, you pay only $4 per bag. Stop by and buy yourself some relaxing entertainment for five or four dollars.

16th Annual Golden Goose Holiday Bazaar

The 16th Annual Golden Goose Craft Show will be held beginning Friday November 6, 2008 from 5pm-9pm.

Saturday, November 7 from 9am-6pm and Sunday, November 8 from 10am-3pm. We will be showing handmade crafts from over 20 crafters. The items include Christmas ornaments, hand sewn and hand knit items, ceramics, woodwork, glasswork (both stained glass and fused glass), metal work, watercolors and much, much more.

Flea Market

Flea Market is held the first Saturday of the month except for January 2 and June 5, 2010 Gates open for vendors at 6:30 am.

Fees are $15.00 per 10' x 10' space needed. Please bring your own tables and chairs. Gates open for shoppers at 7 am. Market goes until 2 pm and is always held outdoors in the Plaza area.

3rd Annual Walk for Hunger

This event will be held in El Dorado Hills Town Center. It is a five kilometer (5k) walk that begins at the Town Center. The start and finish points feature music and festivities. Check in at 7:00 am, walk start at 8:30 am. Post walk celebration starts at 10:00 am.

The Food Bank of El Dorado County serves over 40 charities. Bring your spouse, family, friends, coworkers or bring the family dog. Form a team at your school or workplace. Or, come alone and meet new friends who support the fight against hunger.

Cost $25 adults, $10 ages 17 or younger. Includes official Walk for Hunger T-shirt.

Koats 4 Kids

Koats 4 Kids of El Dorado County is going to be having their annual distribution day on Saturday, Nov. 7th. at the Masonic Lodge in Placerville. There are three coat drop off locations: Placerville Clothing Company, 327 Main Street, PLacerville; Carter-Kelly, 171 Middletown Road, Placerville; and J&J Glass, 3120 Merchandise Way, Diamond Springs.

Koats 4 Kids distributes coats and sweatshirts free of charge to all El Dorado County residents. In 2008, they were able to send nearly 3,500 coats and sweathshirts home with families who may not have been able to provide them otherwise.

NEW TRAIL PREVIEW HIKE-SOUTH FORK AMERICAN RIVER

Saturdays: Sept. 5, Sept. 26, Oct. 10, Oct. 24 (run only date), Nov. 7, Nov. 21 NEW TRAIL PREVIEW HIKE-SOUTH FORK AMERICAN RIVER (CRONAN RANCH TO SALMON FALLS BRIDGE) 9 AM – 1 PM.

This trail is newly constructed and not yet open to the public. It is being offered as a fundraiser to assist ARC complete construction of the trail’s final segments. Hiking distance is approximately 8 miles with easy to moderate hiking. Our hike will take us along the west ridge of the Cronan Ranch down to the South Fork American River with beautiful views of the Coloma-Lotus Valley and the South Fork American River Canyon. It will proceed downstream from the Cronan Ranch through mixed oak woodland and conifer with occasional views of the lower American River gorge. Just upstream of Satan’s Cesspool, we’ll emerge into mixed chaparral-covered slopes and then back into beautiful blue oak woodland recently acquired by ARC. Finally, our group will emerge onto a long-running ridge with excellent views of upper Folsom Lake and the Sacramento Valley. The trail will drop down to Acorn Creek and the site of ARC’s pedestrian bridge construction project and on to the Skunk Hollow Parking Lot at the Salmon Falls Bridge and Folsom Lake. A shuttle bus will pick up our group at the Skunk Hollow parking lot and return us to our cars at the Cronan Ranch trailhead by approximately 1 p.m. Fit 10-year-olds+ welcome. Rain or shine.

26th Annual Auction Gala "Celebrating El Dorado County"

Cameron Park Rotary Club Community Observatory

The Cameron Park Rotary Club Community Observatory, Folsom Lake College, El Dorado Center, invites the public to let trained docents show the many celestial wonders of the universe through two 14 inch telescopes.

The observatory is open to the public on weekend evenings (weather permitting), Folsolm Lake College, El Dorado Center, Campus Drive, continue through the back parking lost to the left of the observatory gate.
